Round 1, Right Side, Chain 1, then sc 24 times. You will have to put 2-3 sc in each stitch of your chain. You are actually making a bigger circle around your first circle. "Crocheting in Plain English" by Maggie Righetti is a great resource book for beginners and old timers who sometimes forget. Don't know of any knitting knowledge that will help here unless you have made something that requires increasing stitches. I also do both, but crocheting is so much faster.
